This advanced test that we offer at Regent Street Clinic™ can detect the presence of the HIV virus just 10 days after any potential exposure.
It is offered as part of our Early Detection Screen along with Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. This is very important given that the same exposure that has led to the risk of HIV will also have led to a risk of acquiring Hepatitis B and C. All three of these viral infections may be life-altering and incurable, hence may cause serious health problems.
PCR stands for polymerase chain reaction and is a testing method that extracts and amplifies the genetic material of an organism (in this case the three viruses being tested). This tests for the presence RNA of the virus itself, so the window period is shorter compared with other types of HIV and STI testing. This means it can provide the fastest possible results (after just 10 days since the exposure).

This test is thought to be slightly less sensitive than the 28 Day HIV Duo test so we recommend a follow up test at day 28.
The results of the Early Detection Screen will usually be ready just 3 working days from when your sample is received in the laboratory.
This super early detection screen costs £295 - for early peace of mind.
