As a qualified and accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist, Lisa understands how important it is for people to feel comfortable enough to talk through their difficulties.
She has many years of experience working with adults, young people, and couples with mild mental health issues, relationship issues, historical abuse, low self esteem and confidence, post-natal depression, domestic vioence, work-reated issues, stress and addictions.
She has a flexible and sympathetic approach and is able to adapt her method to suit each individual’s needs.
Counselling is an opportunity for people to explore problems they may be experiencing, or to talk through traumatic or distressing events in their lives. Talking through these experiences with a counsellor can help you to come to terms with your feelings or find solutions to your problems. As a Person-Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) Lisa believes that each individual knows what is best for them and, with support, can work through difficult feelings and experiences, learning more about themselves and how they relate to others in the process.
Lisa offers a confidential, non-judgmental space for clients to feel open and free to explore these feelings and to create new tools/skills to help them move forward with their lives.
We all experience difficulty in our relationships throughout our lives; work stresses and strains, differences in parenting style, blended families (step parents/children, adoption), financial problems, differing ambitions and expectations, illness, sexual issues, children's behaviour, exam stress - these are a few of the issues that can put a strain on relationships.
Partners and family members will all have differing coping styles including; talking things through, withdrawing, becoming down, anxious or angry. It can feel almost impossible to work through our relationship difficulties when our styles of coping clash and our needs feel so different.
My work in this area focuses on creating an environment where you can talk openly and honestly with each other. It encourages more effective communication and an opportunity to explore problems and find ways of understanding each other and moving forwards. I have extensive experience working with teenagers and I am inspired by the works of Dr Daniel Siegel. He is a neuroscientist and through his works he explains the complexity of the teenage brain and what can be done to help adolescents through this period in their lives.
I was born in the UK and my passion for people started at a very early age. I started travelling when I was really young which gave me the opportunity to experience different cultures and behaviours.
I am a really down to earth person and I appreciate that we are all unique. I have worked in several voluntary sectors which include Cruse Bereavement Care, Derbyshire Rape Crisis, and The Hadhari Nari Project; which is an organisation dealing with domestic violence.
My experience includes the following areas;
Anxiety and depression
Low self-esteem and confidence
Physical health problems
Rape & trauma
Compulsive behaviour and loss
I am an accredited member of the BACP and I adhere to their code of ethics. I have regular supervision to ensure best practice.
I am available throughout the week at times to suit you. I look forward to meeting you and helping you at Regent Street Clinic™.
