Isabella’s biography:

I am an experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist. I obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in 2003 as a Person Centred Counsellor Psychotherapist. I continued with my studies and obtained an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2004. I acquired a position in 2003 as a Community Counsellor at Newstead Healthy Living Centre as part of a Government Initiative. In 2007 I was appointed as Lead Primary Care Counsellor/Manager for Nottingham Health Care Trust. After two years the service applied for IAPT status. I became Team Leader in the new service and I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in 2010.

In 2014 I retired from the NHS and set up a private practice. I work for a private GP in Nottingham City and have a practice in the Arnold area of Nottingham. As a Counsellor /Psychotherapist / Cognitive Behaviour Therapist I am dual trained and able to offer a personalised service to meet the needs of individuals. I have experience both in the NHS and in the private sector of working with clients with a variety of different backgrounds and needs.

Prior to training as a therapist I was employed in the NHS for 25 years as a Biomedical Scientist and then I worked for 6 years in a Palliative Care Unit as a Voluntary Services Manager. My scientific background has helped me in my profession as a therapist to be aware of the biochemical and physical changes that may impact on psychological health. My experience in palliative care gave me experience in the challenges of living with a terminal diagnosis and in bereavement. I am also aware of the social and economic circumstances that may challenge mental health. I therefore believe in a holistic approach to wellbeing.

I maintain professional development through networking with other professionals and training courses to keep me up to date with current developments in therapy.
